Kazakhstan
Since 1991, when it gained independence from the Soviet Union, Kazakhstan has implemented a superb strategy designed to protect its sovereignty while expertly navigating relationships with both Russia and China (which is on Kazakhstan’s eastern borders). Kazakhstan has also developed industries beyond oil and gas and nurtured relationships with other countries, including the United States, European Union, Turkey, Iran, and other Central Asian states, among others. These smart actions have provided Kazakhstan diversification, where the country is not reliant on any one industry, country or region. Brilliantly done!
